How to find appropriate information about LL.M. Programs

In Which LLM is best? we provide an idea of the kind of information you need to look for in order to decide whether an LLM is a good choice for you and, if that's the case, which LLM Program you should go after. That is a lot of information that you will need to gather. The key point is get the information as fast and especially as precise as possible to avoid wasting time and mistakes.

You should consider both primary and secondary sources of information about Law Schools and their respective LLM Programs

Primary Source: Law School's websites (there is no replacement for this)

The best place to find information is the official website of each Law School's LLM Program (although contacting recent LLM Graduates from each Law School of your interest is advisable as well).

Each Law School and LLM Program website tends to have a different structure and the information for LLM Programs is usually mixed up with that for the JD, JSD and other Programs, dispersed along many sub-pages. Then, it will usually take you some time to look at each one of those web pages.

On the other hand, since Law Schools continuously make changes to their LLM Programs (e.g. courses offered, application requirements and deadlines, tuition, financial aid, etc.), the official websites are the proper way to go if you want to avoid outdated info that will make you lose time, efforts, and potentially money as well.

However, it is often the case the attorneys interested in LLM Programs are not experts about US Law Schools other than those seen on the movies or the ones mentioned by colleagues who have taken an LLM Program before. That's why we provide below a list of many US Law Schools offering LLM Programs. We include the links to those Law Schools and LLM Programs' websites.

Comments and reviews by former and current LLM Students at each Law School
Information about the location, climate, and size of the city where the Law School is located
Videos and pictures of the Law Schools and their respective cities
US News Profile for each Law School (providing info about faculty and more)
Books, papers and other publications written by scholars from each Law School
Blogs and Discussions
